As a self-professed lover of movies, I relish this time of the year when best-of lists are compiled and nominations are announced in anticipation of the season's award shows. 

The Atlantic's list is a good one, self-deprecating and sarcastic - my kind of humor - and I was shocked to see a Tim Burton movie included. Even more shocking still, loving nothing more than a piece of visual artistry and thought-provoking goodness, I have only seen one movie this year. 

Pick your jaws up off the floor.
