This article is inspired by Forbes' list of 10 memorable quotes by Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, which was recently published after his death. His quotes were the catalyst for thinking about quotes and how I have never passed up a good one.
The characteristics of a good quote
- Short
- Memorable
- Inspirational
- Teachable
In my opinion, what makes a quote good are a reasonable length, not too short, not too long - think Goldilocks principle; they are memorable; they inspire; and finally, something is learned, either personally or about the nature of society or life in general.
Now, on to answering the title question: What are some of your favorite quotes?
Let me know if you have any good quotes, or what you think the requirements for a good quote are. And as always, if you like what you are reading, then vote it up the Vine.
