Though this article is really an advertisement for Robert S. Anderson's recently published book, "Beverly Hills: The First 100 Years," as a person interested in history, especially history of the movies and the '20s, this story drew me in.
Anderson knows what he is talking about in the book, being the grandson of the founder of the Beverly Hills Hotel. Readers of this article find out that Beverly Hills used to have a racetrack which attracted the celebrity-elite and others of the jet set.
For most of us, mentioning Beverly Hills conjures up images of Julia Roberts strolling around Rodeo Drive in her iconic role from Pretty Woman. "Big mistake. Big. Huge."
It wasn't always so.
