If you haven't been keeping up with the news surrounding the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, the writers of The New York Times do a fine job recapping the highlights coming out of the Senate Judiciary committee.
Judge Gorsuch is not to be pinned down on any of his personal beliefs but instead points to his record and qualifications to justify his nomination. The need for such an exhaustive hearing then begs the question: Is this all for naught?
The Senate has the votes to confirm Judge Gorsuch so the hearing seems to be a spectacle in partisan politics. However, claims that Gorsuch may be a surrogate for the Trump administration who aims to further that agenda are curious and rightly should not be ignored.
